Mill Creek

Central Gwinnett

The JV destroyed Central Gwinnett 15-0 in 3 innings.  Their record is now 2-0. They scored 12 in the 2nd inning.  Michael Bennett threw two innings of no hit ball and Josh Overley came in and threw the 3rd inning.  Kaleb Serna came through in the clutch to end the game with a single down the third baseline to put the nail in the coffin.  The win was a group effort and everyone contributed.

Flowery Branch

Chase Smith brought home the go-ahead run to give the Longhorns the lead in the sixth inning, as Lanier  hung on to beat Flowery Branch 9-4 on Saturday. Josh Overley singled to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to second on a passed ball. Thomas Prince boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Lanier Longhorns JV. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.  Smith got the win in relief for Lanier. Smith pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed no runs.  Decker was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed two runs.  Lanier  jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Prince, bringing home Smith started the inning off. Lanier  pushed more runs across when Prince scored on an RBI single by Lawson Baweja.

Flowery Branch answered Lanier's top inning with three runs of its own in the fifth. Flowery Branch scored on an RBI single by Wagner, an RBI single by Quick, and an error. The Longhorns  tacked on another four runs in the seventh to put the gaem out of reach with a Baweja double, plating Alex Boodram and Prince to start the inning.

South Gwinnett

JV was in action last night against South Gwinnett.  After starting the season off 3-0, but unfortunately... all good things must come to an end... and it did for the Longhorns against South Gwinnett.  Even with strong performances at the plate from Lawson Baweja (3-4) and Jake Ludwig (1-4 with a massive homerun), your Longhorns still fell 10-5.  Trevor Morelock and Sergio Vargas pitched well in 5 innings of relief only giving up 3 runs combined.  The JV squad is back in action on Thursday at Archer starting at 5:30.   


Lanier JV lost 7-0 to Archer on Thursday as an outstanding 2 hit complete game performance by Archer kept the Horns off balance.

Chase Smith looked sharp on the hill. Smith held Archer hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight. Archer never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on an RBI double.


Longhorns JV saw victory slip away on Saturday when a five-run third inning lead disappeared after a furious charge from Gainesville, who ended up with a 7-6 win in extra innings.

Offensively, the Longhorns were led by Josh Stroud (2-4, 1 R), Jaydn Jackson (2-4, 1 R) and Lawson Baweja (2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI).


Lanier JV scattered nine hits on Tuesday, but weren't able to push enough runs across, and lost 15-5 to Grayson. Jadyn Jackson got things going for Lanier with a double in the first inning. He also scored one run and had one RBI.

The Longhorns jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first.Josh Stroud singled to ignite the offense, before Jackson doubled. Lanier then tacked on more runs when Jackson scored on a groundout by Chase Smith and scored on a single by Sergio Vargas.The Longhorns scored one run in the third inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fourth. In the third, the Horns scored on an RBI single by Cooper Irwin, bringing home Josh Overley.

Collins Hill

Lanier and Collins Hill passed the lead back and forth four times on Thursday, but in the end the Longhorns pulled out a 9-5 win in seven innings over Collins Hill.

In the fifth inning the Horns plated 6 runs to take control of the game.  A the big hit of the inning was a two-run double by Trevor Morelock  that brought home Lawson Baweja and Sergio Vargas.

Peachtree Ridge

Peachtree Ridge took the lead in the sixth inning, and Lanier was unable to muster a comeback, losing 8-7 in seven innings on Saturday.

Chase Smith led the offensive charge with hits in each of his three at bats. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the fourth and sixth.


The Longhorn JV wound up on the wrong side of a 14-0 score on Tuesday. Loganville jumped out to an early lead in the 1st plating 4 runs and putting the game out of reach with 9 runs in the 3rd. 

 Mill Creek

Despite a big day at the dish from Chase Smith, who finished 2-3, Lanier Longhorns JV lost 10-4 to Mill Creek on Monday.  Smith got on base three times in the game. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Lanier  pushed across two runs in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, the Horns scored on an RBI single by Smith, bringing home Cooper Irwin.

Peachtree Ridge

Lanier lost a tough battle 2-1 in seven innings on Tuesday, despite outhitting the Lions six to four. The Horns jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first but were unable to put together another rally to pull out the win.


Despite Trevor Morelock's 2-3 performance at the plate on Tuesday, The JV took a 8-2 loss at the hands of Norcross.  Other offensive contributors were Chase Smith (1-3), Josh Overley (1-3, 1RBI), Lawson Baweja (1-2) and Michael Bennett (1-2).


The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead by scoring 9 runs in the first three innings to put the game out of reach in a 14-2 win at tThe Ranch Thursday in the final regular season game of the season.  Josh Overly (3-3, 3 RBI, 3R) and Jake Ludwig (2-2, 3 RBI, 2R) led the way in the 14 hit offensive while Sergio Vargas was dominate on the mound for the Horns going all 5 innings, striking out 8 while only allowing 1 run.  Other stand out performances were turned in by Chase Smith (2-4, 1RBI, 2R), Jadyn Jackson (2-4, 2RBI, 1R), Michael Bennett (2-3, 1RBI, 1R)
